Alfred Benjamin “A.B.” Crentsil (1943 – 2022) was a renowned Ghanaian highlife musician and one of the “big three” contemporary Ghanaian vocalists. He won the prestigious Fontomfrom Evergreen Award, given to musicians with 15-20 years of continuous music experience.

Crentsil was born in Prestea, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and had a passion for music from a young age, learning to play the guitar while in middle school. He worked as an electrical apprentice under his father before pursuing music full-time, playing with various bands like the Strollers, El Dorados, Sweet Talks, and Ahenfo Band.

Some of Crentsil’s most popular songs include “Devil”. In 1990, he opened a 16-track recording studio. Crentsil was married to Elizabeth and had eight children. He passed away on July 13, 2022 at the age of 78.
