Written by Abdul

Kenyan marathon runner Lawrence Cherono has been banned for seven years by the Athletics Integrity Unit after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine, which is classified as a metabolic modulator and can have performance-enhancing effects.

The 35-year-old Cherono, a two-time major marathon winner and one of the fastest marathon runners of all time, was found to have violated anti-doping rules, marking the latest in a series of doping violations that have cast a shadow over Kenyan athletics.
