The Nigerian Senate's Downstream Committee has announced that the country's refineries, including the ones in Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna, will begin full operations before January 2025. The Senate Ad-Hoc Committee to Investigate the Turnaround Maintenance of Nigeria's Refineries has stated that the Port Harcourt Refinery, in particular, will start operation before the end of 2024. 
The Rivers State Governor has also expressed support for the refinery's rehabilitation and noted that a road project is underway to provide easy access to the facility. These developments indicate that Nigeria is making progress in reviving its domestic refining capacity and reducing its reliance on imported petroleum products.
