ASUU University of Uyo Branch Threatens Strike Over Unpaid Allowances and Unmet Demands

Written by gcsjjustified

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Uyo branch, has expressed its readiness to embark on a strike over unmet demands. The union has cited the failure of the federal government to implement the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, including the revitalization of public universities, payment of earned academic allowances, and the adoption of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) payment platform. ASUU-UNIUYO has stated that it will join the national body in any industrial action if the government does not address these longstanding issues within the stipulated timeframe. The union's leadership has emphasized that they are left with no choice but to resort to a strike to compel the government to fulfill its obligations to the university system and its academic staff.
