The Federal government has officially flagged off the construction of section 2 of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project. This section will start from the Lekki Deep Seaport, which is the border between Lagos and Ogun states, and continue towards the Lagos/Ogun border. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, stated that about 10 billion naira has been paid as compensation to owners of structures affected by the project's right-of-way. The government aims to complete the entire 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar coastal highway by May 2025.
