According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, approximately 46% of the population lives below $1.25 per day and 15% live on less than $0.50 per day. The country has a low literacy rate at 59%, with only about 70% having completed Primary Schooling compared to other countries like Kenya (98%) which has an average life expectancy of 65 years as opposed to Nigeria’s 52 years.
